How do you find the data that you want, and what can you do with it?
We will use an example to walk through the basic steps in a project using immigration data then wrap up with a “real-life hit your head against the wall” example and talk about where to go for help, technical and with the data.

Angela is an award-winning, cross-platform journalist whose work has appeared in numerous national and international publications. While working at the Oakland Tribune, she founded CivicPlayground.com, which has won several prizes for civic app projects and now helps make digital tools relevant and accessible to local newsrooms. She is the author of a forthcoming book about sustainable local agriculture, “Gleason Ranch: Risking Everything.”
