Could data help empower people to help stop human trafficking? A proposed platform for both the public and law enforcement agencies would provide data about human rights abuses and alerts about suspected activity.
The Story Behind the Project
Team DFNDR wanted to find a way to publicize the impact of human trafficking and to get people involved to stop it. They envisoned a live dashboard overviewed on a map that predicts the movement of suspects of human trafficking. Certain activities could trigger alerts, predict travel routes or suspects and get in touch with relevant agencies.
The actual implementation of this dashboard would take much more work than could be done during a hackathon. Team members decided to have a minimal viable product to show entry points, hypothetical destinations based on arrests of suspects and run a simulation. Learn more about the project development here.
