Lucio is a Chicago-based photojournalist and front-end web developer originally from Compton, Calif. He likes to cover immigration, health and trauma issues through long-term visual documentary work. He started college studying computer science at Cal Poly Pomona and later transferred to a Cal State Fullerton where he received a Bachelor’s degree in photojournalism. In 2013, he completed a year-long fellowship at The Chicago Reporter where he began an interest for data and the use of data visualization for stories. Currently, he freelances for EFE, The Chicago Tribune, Hoy, Chicago Catalyst and other publications. In his free time he attends hackathons and learns about new JavaScript libraries and new ways to visualize data.
